Can I upgrade Windows 9x/Me/2000/XP to Windows Server 2003?

A client OS such as Windows 9x/Me/2000Pro/XP cannot be upgraded to Windows Server 2003. You can however dual boot Windows Server 2003. Here is a list of supported upgrade path.

The following Operating Systems can be upgraded to Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition:

Windows NT 4.0 Server (SP5 or above)
Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Server (SP5 or above)
Windows 2000 Server
Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition
Windows Server 2003 Beta3/RC1/RC2 Standard Edition *

The following Operating Systems can be upgraded to Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition:

Windows NT 4.0 Server (SP5 or above)
Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Server (SP5 or above)
Windows NT 4.0 Enterprise Edition
Windows 2000 Server
Windows 2000 Advanced Server
Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition
Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition
Windows Server 2003 Beta3/RC1/RC2 Enterprise Edition *

The following Operating Systems can be upgraded to Windows Server 2003 Datacenter Edition:

Windows 2000 Datacenter Server
Windows Server 2003 Datacenter Edition
Windows Server 2003 Beta3/RC1/RC2 Datacenter Edition *

The following Operating Systems can be upgraded to Windows Server 2003 Web Edition:

Windows Server 2003 Web Edition
Windows Server 2003 Beta3/RC1/RC2 Web Edition *

The following Operating Systems can be upgraded to Windows Small Business Server 2003:

Windows 2000 Server
Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition
Windows Server 2003 Beta3/RC1/RC2 Small Business Server *
Small Business Server 2000
Windows Small Business Server 2003

* It is not recommended to upgrade from beta code to RTM code.
