Can I upgrade Windows 9x/Me/2000/XP to Windows Server 2003?
A client OS such as Windows 9x/Me/2000Pro/XP cannot be upgraded to Windows
Server 2003. You can however dual boot Windows Server 2003. Here is a list of
supported upgrade path.
The following Operating Systems can be upgraded to Windows Server 2003
Standard Edition:
- Windows NT 4.0 Server (SP5 or above)
- Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Server (SP5 or above)
- Windows 2000 Server
- Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition
- Windows Server 2003 Beta3/RC1/RC2 Standard Edition *
The following Operating Systems can be upgraded to Windows Server 2003
Enterprise Edition:
- Windows NT 4.0 Server (SP5 or above)
- Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Server (SP5 or above)
- Windows NT 4.0 Enterprise Edition
- Windows 2000 Server
- Windows 2000 Advanced Server
- Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition
- Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition
- Windows Server 2003 Beta3/RC1/RC2 Enterprise Edition *
The following Operating Systems can be upgraded to Windows Server 2003
Datacenter Edition:
- Windows 2000 Datacenter Server
- Windows Server 2003 Datacenter Edition
- Windows Server 2003 Beta3/RC1/RC2 Datacenter Edition *
The following Operating Systems can be upgraded to Windows Server 2003 Web
Edition:
- Windows Server 2003 Web Edition
- Windows Server 2003 Beta3/RC1/RC2 Web Edition *
The following Operating Systems can be upgraded to Windows Small Business
Server 2003:
- Windows 2000 Server
- Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition
- Windows Server 2003 Beta3/RC1/RC2 Small Business Server *
- Small Business Server 2000
- Windows Small Business Server 2003
* It is not recommended to upgrade from beta code to RTM code.
