What is the difference between Exchange and the POP3 Service? Can the POP3 Service and Exchange co-exist?
Basically, the POP3 Service is a basic email server, with no, or very little extra features. It does not come with web based access, shared calenders, support for virus scanning, online backups and so on. For a company with less than 50 users, the POP3 Service might be good enough, but if it is a big company, you probably want something better, and with more features, for example Exchange.
The POP3 Service and Exchange can co-exist.
For more information about these two questions, please look at "Comparing the POP3 Service and Configuring Coexistence" on
the Microsoft website.
