When I shut down i have to specify a reason for the shut down. How do i disable this?

The ShutDown Event Tracker is a new feature. Some people like it, but it can also be very annoying on a test server that is restarted several times. To disable this, follow these steps:

  • Go to Start and then Run
  • Type mmc
  • Click File and then Add/Remove Snap-in
  • Click Add..., find the Snap-in Group Policy Object Editor and click Add
  • Click Finish, click Close, click OK
  • Navigate to Local Computer Policy/Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/System, right click Display Shutdown Event Tracker and click Properties
  • Click Disabled, click OK
